Forest and Wood 

The exhibition presents views of the lower part of Ultimo Valley, in the Stelvio-Stilfserjoch National Park, with its forest and sustainable productive activities. The water-powered saw mill has been fully restored so you can see the making of timber from a tree trunk. The forest and the wood are the central topic and exhibition in the adjacent purpose built visitor centre.

The Ultimo Valley has a vast forest coverage and the wood is used as a construction material continuing a long kept tradition. Harmonic and proportioned houses, productive buildings and farms illustrates this, you only habe to stop and look at the roofs: they are all hand made in wood with the typical larch-boards, called Lärchenholzschindeln.

The water channel outside, invites children to walk in it with bare feet. At the side there is a mill also powered by the water from the brook, that makes flour for bread.
